About this event
Meditate anytime, anywhere—even in your dreams!
No experience in life is useless, including sleep and dreams. When skillfully applied to the realization of the nature of mind, they become treasures.
Thus it is taught in the teachings on Dream Yoga:
If one can recognise a dream as a dream even three times in one’s lifetime, one will be able to recognise oneself in the bardo;
If one can transform dreams while dreaming, one can be reborn in the Pure Land;
If one can rest in the clear light within the dream, there is the possibility of realising the dharmakaya in the bardo.
Among the essential practices taught in the Kagyu tradition’s three-year retreat is the Six Yogas of Naropa, which include dream yoga.
In Guru Rinpoche’s teachings on the Six Bardos, there is also the bardo of dreaming.
Both traditions treat dreams as a path, skillfully using sleep and dream states to deepen awareness and to directly recognise the mind’s innate luminosity.
Meditation on sleep and dreams has traditionally been rarely taught in a complete, public way. Outside of retreat settings, few practitioners have engaged in these practices, which has lent them an air of mystery. This time, meditation master Mingyur Rinpoche is teaching sleep and dream meditation in Asia for the first time.
It is an exceptionally rare and precious opportunity. Under Rinpoche’s guidance, we have the chance to use meditation to venture deeply into sleep and dreaming—opening up an entirely new continent of practice.
Mingyur Rinpoche often says, “You can meditate anytime, anywhere.” This time, there’s a special addition: “Even in your dreams!”
April 18–20 marks Mingyur Rinpoche’s three-day teachings on Sleep and Dream Meditation.
You’re warmly invited to join us and learn how to become a lucid, aware “dream walker”—to know you are dreaming while dreaming, to transform dreams, and to rest in the clear light of awareness.
