About this event
Built upon the foundational teachings of Joy of Living, the Path of Liberation is a path of practice centred on the nature of mind. It leads us directly to the essence of awakening—luminous, pure awareness and the mind’s perfect innate nature.
In the Tergar lineage, the Path of Liberation integrates the essential wisdom of Mahamudra, Dzogchen and Maha-Madhyamaka. Drawing on his own lived experience of practice, Mingyur Rinpoche presents these profound teachings on the nature of mind in a way that is clear, systematic and genuinely practicable.
In guiding students through the Path of Liberation, Rinpoche primarily teaches through a set of pith instructions that follow the stages of meditation:
In Level 1, the instruction that “all phenomena appear in the mind” guides practitioners to recognise that everything experienced and known arises within the mind. In Level 2, the instruction that “mind is emptiness” leads to direct recognition of the nature of mind.
In Levels 3 and 4, Rinpoche further offers the instructions that “emptiness is spontaneous presence” and that “spontaneous presence is self-liberation”, guiding practitioners to deepen their recognition of the nature of mind and to recognise it through all phenomena.
