2026 Drupchen Puja and Empowerment at Tergar Osel Ling Monastery, Nepal

Presided by H.E. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

In-Person and Online

About this event

Ngakso Drupchen is performed annually by the monks of Tergar Osel Ling Monastery. In 2026, it will take place from February 24 to March 4.
This tantric sadhana is a terma, a sacred hidden treasure concealed in Tibet by Guru Padmasambhava and revealed centuries later by the great tertön Terchen Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa. Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa is the great-great-grandfather of Mingyur Rinpoche, and therefore this treasure cycle forms an authentic family lineage that has been preserved and transmitted through generations. Because of this direct ancestral connection, the Ngakso Drupchen holds a particularly profound place within Rinpoche’s lineage and the Tergar community.

Meaning of Ngakso
“Ngak” means Vajrayana; “so” is short for sojong, with “so” meaning to mend or restore vows and “jong” meaning purification. Thus, Ngakso is the Vajrayana practice of mending and purification. It is especially powerful for purifying negativities, unwholesome karma, and any breaches of samaya. All obscurations accumulated through body, speech, and mind are purified through this profound practice.

The Meaning of Drupchen
“Drupchen” means great accomplishment. Its essence is transforming impure perception into pure perception: When we imagine our body as the deity, there is awareness. While we manifest as the deity, all the mandala comes from love and compassion, wanting to benefit all sentient beings. The deity and the mandala are the union of emptiness and appearance, manifesting like a reflection in a mirror or a rainbow in the sky. This union is the ultimate wisdom, infused with infinite love and compassion. Through this practice, everything is transformed into awareness, love, compassion and wisdom.

Great masters have taught that fully participating in a Drupchen with body, speech, and mind carries blessings equal to a three-year retreat.
