When we have this strong craving, we become out of control.
Then we become slaves to that phenomenon, situation, object, person, whatever.

And the big problem is that we do not see things very clearly.
We do not know reality very clearly.
So, how can we see things with clarity?

The first important thing is we need to learn to be with it “as it is”.
We have to accept whatever it is –
We do not need to change too much, add things, or get rid of things.
The first thing is to just see the situation, thing, phenomenon, or whatever it is.
If we do not do that, it is ignorance.

Secondly, if we are not seeing things as they are, we are prejudging. We have preconceptions, sometimes related to childhood experiences, trauma –
So many things there.

We cannot get rid of them, but what we can do is just see things as they are.

Then wisdom develops.

The best period to begin formal practice is first thing in the morning after a good night’s sleep, at which point the mind is most refreshed and relaxed, before getting involved with all the daily stuff. Taking the time to practice before you leave the house for work or to run whatever errands you have to do sets the tone for your entire day, and also reinforces your own commitment to practice throughout the day.

The biggest challenge to accepting the constancy of death and rebirth lies with our resistance to impermanence, and our hopeless attempts to hold in place what inherently changes. We often express the wish to let go of such disturbing emotions as jealousy, anger, or pride; or to transcend our vanity or laziness. When we think of making changes, our minds often jump to this conspicuous examples; and after decades of repetition, these traits seem immutable, undefeatable, and we lack the confidence to undertake the work of letting them go. The good news is that letting go is itself a way of experiencing change, death, and rebirth; and to affirm this, we don't need to start with our most entrenched and problematic tendencies. We can experiment with every day activities that we generally do not defy as problems at all.

Within the dualistic perception of normal awareness, we can acknowledge that each night when we fall asleep, we’re dying to this day, which allows us to take rebirth tomorrow. In ordinary experience, every moment takes place when the previous moment dies. Every new breath follows the death of the previous breath. In-between breaths, thoughts, days, events––in-between everything--there are gaps; and each gap offers the possibility of glimpsing pure emptiness through the clouds.
