Q&A with Lama Yadie:
The Refuge and Vajrasattva Practices of Ngondro
Date: April 20, 2024 (Saturday)
Time: 10am-12pm Hong Kong time
“Ngondro teachings contains the essential principles that reemerge through all Buddhist teachings… The possibilities introduced by ngondro are so vast and profound that if you try to comprehend the whole of it, it may seem overwhelming. For this reason, it’s important to remember that ngondro works step by step.”
– Mingyur Rinpoche, Turning Confusion into Clarity
The ngondro practices constitute one of two tracks of practice in Tergar’s Path of Liberation program. Of the two tracks, these traditional foundational practices are more time intensive and may also seem more complex to those who are new to the Buddhist path. Thus, even after receiving the teachings, we may still need guidance on the key points of the practice, especially at the start of the journey.
Lama Yadie, the resident lama at Tergar Hong Kong, has kindly agreed to answer our questions about starting ngondro, and on the first two of the unique practices – taking refuge, and the purification techniques of Vajrasattva practice.
